What data we process, why and for how long
1. Contact form and email
Data: name, email address, phone number (optional) and the content of your message.
Purpose: to answer your enquiry and, where relevant, inform you about availability and conditions of the stay.
Legal basis: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR), given by ticking the box on the form or by writing to us, and pre-contractual steps taken at your request (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
Retention: while we handle your enquiry and for a maximum of one year after the last contact, unless the enquiry leads to a booking.
2. Booking and stay
Bookings are made on the Experiència Rural platform, which is the controller of its own processing. To manage your stay we receive the booking details (name, contact details, dates and number of guests).
On arrival, we collect the identification details of each guest that the law requires us to record and report to the authorities (traveller registry, Spanish Royal Decree 933/2021).
Legal basis: performance of the accommodation contract (art. 6.1.b GDPR) and compliance with legal obligations (art. 6.1.c GDPR).
Retention: as required by law (three years for the traveller registry; up to six years for tax and accounting records).
3. Website usage statistics
To learn which pages and photographs attract most interest, the website sends an anonymous signal to our own server with the page visited, the photograph opened and the browser time zone (used only to estimate the country). We also count clicks on the “Book” button.
We do not store your IP address, we use no cookies or identifiers, and the data is analysed in aggregate: it cannot identify any individual.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR) in understanding how the website is used, with minimal impact on your privacy.
4. Google maps
Embedded Google Maps are loaded only if you accept them (see the cookie policy). When loaded, your browser connects to Google servers, which receive your IP address and may set their own cookies.
The website fonts are hosted on our own server. When you open a page, your browser does not connect to Google Fonts or any other external server to download them, so your IP address is not transmitted to third parties for this reason.
Recipients and processors
We do not disclose your data to third parties unless legally required (police for the traveller registry, tax authorities, courts). To provide the service we rely on providers acting as data processors under the appropriate contracts:
SiteGround Spain S.L. — website hosting, with servers in the European Union.
Formspree, Inc. (United States) — receipt and forwarding of contact form messages. The international transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission standard contractual clauses.
Google Ireland Ltd. — Google Maps, only if you accept. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Experiència Rural — booking platform. It acts as an independent controller of the data you provide when booking, under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
You may at any time exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability, and withdraw your consent without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. Simply email us at hola@casacanadell.cat stating which right you wish to exercise. If we have reasonable doubts about your identity we may ask for a copy of your ID or an equivalent document. We will reply within one month.
This website is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with data, please write to us and we will delete it.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data: encrypted connection (HTTPS) across the whole website, restricted server access, firewall and regular backups.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect legal or service changes. The current version will always be published on this page, with the date of the last revision.
